We facilitated the Big Canvas Challenge—a creative, collaborative activity designed to uncover process misalignments and help leaders synchronize their approaches. Leaders were paired up and tasked with painting specific sections of a larger image, with the challenge that all sections had to align perfectly when combined. During the activity, it became clear that pairs had very different process styles—some took a creative yet methodical approach while others preferred a trial-and-error method. This divergence highlighted the real disconnect in how leaders approached work, signaling the need for better alignment to avoid impacts on teams and business functions. To bridge these gaps, we introduced barter-based and point-based mini-challenges requiring negotiation, shared problem-solving, and cooperation. These exercises fostered deeper understanding and trust, helping leaders align their processes and improve teamwork.
